The Impact of a Church “Built to Last”

Over the next few weeks leading up to our BIG Anniversary Sunday we wanted to share some encouraging messages we have received from people impacted by Guide Church.
Here is one of those messages:
I’m feeling very blessed & grateful right now. Thanking God for our church, and a pastor that has an amazing gift for preaching the truth of God’s Word, in love – AND showing us how to apply it to our own lives and situations. His sermons always connect with me and meet me where I’m at. Every. Single. Week.
I’m thankful for our pastors, their families and that small group who started it all with their faithfulness to follow God’s direction. In doing so, they have blessed many.

Leading your family in a messed up world…

Leading your family in a messed up world has left committed christian parents in unbearable distress. I have been a silent and vocal observer to the family for the last 34 years of my life. Born into a family with 5 children and a pastors home to working at the Boys and Girls club in college to being a youth pastor for 7 years followed by a lead pastor and church planter for the last 6 years. I have witnessed the family from every different perspective.

I probably am not telling you anything new, but the family is under attack. Let me clarify that statement, I’m not saying the family IN AMERICA is under attack, cause that is what a lot of people hear. I am saying the family GLOBAL is under attack. Satan has a very smart strategy, mislead the parents, ruin the kids. What does this look like?
One facet of this attack stems from children that grew up with very limited resources, and activities but didn’t realize it at the time. Now adults they have a overpowering desire to give their children more than they had in childhood. But as parents pile up events, activities, and more stuff at the feet of their children they have forgotten the most important thing they are starving them of. INFLUENCE
Influence is defined as, the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
When parents forfeit the influence they have on their children, guess what replaces it? The events, activities, friends and stuff becomes the parent. Proverbs says: “Train up a child in the way he should go; Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” The word train here is the basis of the influence that every parent has. How can we influence our children in the limited time we have with them? Find out next time….
