  1. What does the passage say about God or Jesus?

  1. Paul lays out 3 things that happen to the Christian when they accept Christ. What are they?

  1. What is the key to not obeying the lust of the flesh?

  1. Galatians 5 talks about “Good Person” legalism. In other words, a person thinks they are good in the sight of God simply because they don’t do bad things and/or occasionally do good things. Why is this kind of thought process dangerous and do you find yourself believing this?

  1. How can you use your “liberty” or “freedom” to “serve one another?”

  1. One of the messages of Galatians 5 is that the negative badness does not equal goodness. With that in mind, do you avoid sin or the “lusts of the flesh” by replacing it with something spiritual (Walking in the Spirit Gal. 5: 16) or try to just avoid it? (Think broadly. Remember, “lusts of the flesh” are not necessarily typical sins).

  1. What does the passage say about God or Jesus?

  1. What does the passage say about people?

  1. What does the passage demand of me? Really take time to consider this question. One of the key points of Galatians 5 is “It’s not about what you don’t do, but what you do.”

  1. How does Paul say we should help a brother in need? What do you think that looks like?

  1. What promise does God give those that do good?

  1. In your own words, describe the “sowing promise” God makes to us in Galatians 6:7-8. Compare this to what we learned in Galatians 5.

  1. In the message, we said the lie of Legalism is “God Can’t, so I Will!” What is the one thing you are saying God can’t do in your life? Look for a verse that can encourage you when you are tempted to believe the lie of Legalism. If you need help, feel free to contact Julian.
